OUR HISTORY
When Michael Crowder and Matt Nichols joined forces in July 2007 to create Nichols Crowder Property Solutions, it symbolized the coming together of two renowned real estate families.
Both of us are part of three generation property history so we were bought up talking property – property is in the blood.
Crowders
Crowders Real Estate was formed in 1952 by Grandfather John & uncle Ian Crowder. John was in Real Estate for 72 years & was regarded as one of the most highly qualified Estate Agents and Valuers in Victoria.
In 1958, Michael’s father Geoff joined the business and expanded the family owned business to 8 offices soon becoming the largest and most successful real estate Agency in Frankston & Mornington Peninsula history. Crowders specialized in the sale / lease / management of commercial/ retail, residential & industrial properties for over 50 years up to when it was sold in 2006.
Eric Weber & Company
Matt’s grandfather Eric Weber was an entrepreneurial chap commencing business at 17 years old in 325 Collins Street, Melbourne in 1922. Eric moved the business to East Melbourne because it was easier for the sales team to park their cars. This move created market domination in East Melbourne and Richmond for 30 years.
Eric was the pioneer of the land subdivision auctions with most Saturday’s the performance being undertaken under a marquee. Years later he gave a job to a young butcher who was dating his daughter who became one of Melbourne’s most renowned auctioneers – John Nichols.
President of the REIV in 1971 - 72 and master of the art of auctioneering, John created numerous offices around Melbourne. The family sold the business in 1988 to Carmichael and the name changed to Carmichael Weber until recently. John was made Life member for Meritorious Service to the REIV in 1996.
Nichols Weber Property Solutions
Matt Nichols worked with the larger corporates such as Knight Frank, Colliers and worked in Jakarta, Singapore, and specialized in each property sector. But Matt’s enthusiastic passionate approach suggested it was time to go it alone.
Nervous at the prospect of sounding like a one man show, he called the business Nichols Weber Property Solutions as it sounded like two blokes working there and in so borrowed 60 years of property history by incorporating his grandfather’s name.
After two years the business moved to Bayside and with a geographic focus, business flourished.
